Flu Shots and More Featured at Second Annual Siena Health Fair

October 27, 2002

On Saturday, October 19, more than 400 Siena residents participated in the second annual Siena Health Fair. Sponsored by the Summerlin Hospital & Medical Center and hosted by the Siena Community Association, the Health Fair was held from 8:00-11:00 a.m. in the social center.

"We had a wonderful turn out. In addition to appreciating that they didn’t have to stand in line at the drug store to get their flu shot, our residents had the opportunity to meet with a variety of medical and service providers," Wayne Ireland, Siena’s director of fitness.

Some of the services that were available were hearing screenings, blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings and a variety of blood tests including CBC, Chemistry 7, Lipid Profile, HIV, Blood Type, Basic Iron Studies, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), Glucose, Liver and Glycohemnoglobin.

Several health care providers also were available including a dentist, physical therapist, chiropractor and podiatrist.

"The Health Fair is a great event for our residents and we look forward to hosting it for many years to come," said Ireland.

Located on the southwest edge of the Las Vegas Valley, within the award-winning master planned community of Summerlin, lies the adult golf community of Siena.

According to Paul Smith, Sunrise Colony Company senior vice president and project manager for the Siena development, Sunrise Colony Company specializes in the development of resort style communities, with more than 30 years of experience throughout the Southwest. "At Siena, we’ve taken our company’s legendary resort community concept and applied it to an adult community. Within its guarded gates, private streets, and patrolled neighborhoods, Siena’s residents have access to an unparalleled variety of recreational and social activities to enjoy including golf, swimming, dancing, bocce ball, tennis, craft clubs, social organizations and much more."

The 13,500-square-foot Siena Golf Clubhouse, which anchors the Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley-designed, 18-hole, par-72 daily-fee championship Siena Golf Club, is strategically positioned to offer magnificent views of the 18th hole, Lake Siena and the Las Vegas skyline. The fully equipped golf pro shop offers the latest in fashionable sportswear and accessories along with a full range of state-of-the-art golf equipment. A full-service restaurant, The Siena Bistro, features indoor and patio dining in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. And for special occasions, The Bistro serves as a perfect venue for social gatherings and receptions. The Siena Golf Club is open to all ages however, Siena residents are extended special rates and preferred tee times.

The community’s 15,900-square-foot Tuscan-themed Health & Fitness Center features an indoor swim pavilion with a 25-meter pool, spa and series of two-story windows overlooking the golf course, outdoor resort pool and spa, lighted tennis and bocce ball courts. The fitness center is equipped with the latest cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, exercise rooms, and private saunas and steam rooms. There is also a comprehensive Wellness Center run by the Summerlin Hospital & Medical Center, and a full-service beauty salon and day spa offering a variety of therapeutic massages, sports therapy, reflexology and natural body treatments.

The interim social center is currently home to a computer lab, billiards and card rooms and a sewing center. The facility features a full-time, on-site activities manager and is also the setting for a variety of classes and club gatherings, from ballroom dancing to watercolor painting.

Siena’s new 39,000-square-foot Community Center recently broke ground. A dramatic dome-shaped lobby and lounge will serve as the focal point of this facility, but the Grand Ballroom will serve as its heart and soul. A 17,600-square-foot building section will be used for such activities as theater productions, political debates, evening entertainment and much more. In addition, this magnificent facility will feature a cyber café, a business center, arts and crafts, cards and game rooms, and will be the hub of all social activity at Siena. The Community Center is anticipated to open in Spring 2003.

Homes at Siena range in price from the $140,000s to the $370,000s, plus homesite premiums. Six Italian-themed collections feature 18 single-story floor plans ranging in size from 1,040 square feet to nearly 3,200 square feet for buyers to explore.

Each plan at Siena offers three exterior designs and a wide range of customizing opportunities, including selected plans with courtyard fireplaces and casitas with separate entrances. Professional interior designers, headquartered in Siena’s new on-site Design Studio, are available to assist homebuyers with their customizing options.
